Southstar Drug opens first pharmacy inside a Maxicare clinic

Southstar Drug, in partnership with Maxicare Healthcare Corporation, opened its first Southstar Drug pharmacy inside a Maxicare Clinic on June 29, 2026 at Bonifacio Technology Center in BGC, Taguig City.

The new store gives Maxicare members and walk-in patients access to prescribed medicines, health essentials, and pharmacist support within the same location, making it easier to complete the next step after consultation.

"This format responds to a simple but important patient need: after seeing a doctor, people should be able to get the medicines they need without another stop. By bringing Southstar Drug inside a Maxicare Clinic, we are helping make everyday healthcare more connected, convenient, and easier to complete," said Southstar Drug General Manager Thaddeus Sanchez.

"For many patients, the healthcare journey does not end after consultation. They still need to fill a prescription and follow through with treatment. This partnership with Southstar Drug helps remove that extra layer of inconvenience, especially for members who want care that is simple, accessible, and connected in one place," said Maxicare Group President and Group Chief Executive Officer Christian Argos.

Following the launch, Southstar Drug and Maxicare are exploring opportunities to bring the co-located pharmacy model to more Maxicare clinic locations nationwide, expanding access to quality healthcare services for more communities.

Present at the ribbon-cutting ceremony were Equicom Group Chairman and Maxicare Group Vice Chairman Antonio Go, Maxicare President and CEO Christian Argos, Maxicare Chief Experience Officer Raymond Hernandez, and executives from Southstar Drug and Robinsons Retail.
